C&C: Comments and critisism.

citrus: A citrus warning is, in my experience, the equilivant of a R rating. A fic with a citrus warning will have graphic descriptions of sexual situations, but they aren't as graphic as lemon fics. This is usually what it is, though sometimes citrus is used to refer to the whole range of citrus fruit warnings. For example, sometimes when a fic says 'citrus' or 'citrusey', it really means 'lemon'.

deathfic: It's what it sounds like. A fic that focuses on the death of a certain character.

fandom: A community of fans.

fan fiction or fan fic: Fiction stories written by a fan of a show/movie/book/etc. (example: Star Wars), using at least some elements of that show/movie/book/etc.

filk: A parody of a song. (example: Y.O.D.A is a filk of Y.M.C.A.)

fluff: A fic that has no real point, it's just warm and fuzzy and cozy and familiar. ^__^

grapefruit: I don't see this warning often, but it means non-consensual sexual situations. Rape. The one that I see more often that means the same thing is non-con.

lemon: Ahh...the innocent things that people can corrupt! ^_^; A lemon fic is a fic that is basically literary porn. A lemon is heterosexual sex.

lime: A lime is the younger sibling to a lemon. A lime fic has sexual situations, but isn't as graphic as a lemon.

non-con: Non-censensual sexual situation. Rape, basically.

orange: Another citrus warning! This one means fluff, I think, but I've seen less than 5 sites that use this so I might be wrong.

slash: Male/male homosexual relationships outside of anime. Every fandom has a slash following. In anime, slash is called yaoi.

song fic: A fan fic that inserts the lyrics of a song as part of the fic. Usually, the song fic is named for the song, and the song and the story don't really interact. There'll be this section of story, then some lyrics, then some story, then some lyrics.

vid fic: A fandom version of a music video.

11: Lady Une/Saint Ann/Lady Ann or Relena Peacecract/Dorlian. I've seen web site with the number 11 refering to Lady Une, and I've seen web sites with the number 11 refering to Relena--which confused the hell out of me, let me tell you! Personally, I see the number 11 assigned to Une.

13: Treize Khrushrenada

90: Sylvia Noventa (but she's only in, like, one episode)

xs and +s: OK, here's the explaination. In all fandoms I've come across, there are romantic codings to tell someone which couple a fic is about or contains material about. For example, in Star Wars a fic with H/Le next to it will tell a reader that in that fic, Han Solo and Leia Organa are a couple--or even the focus of the story. In GW, some of the characters have numbers (for various reasons...mostly for their names). In GW romantic codings, you have a character's number, followed by either a 'x' or a '+', then another character's number. The 'x' indicates that the characters have had sex and/or will have sex in the fic. The '+' indicates that the characters either haven't had sex, or have but the story doesn't have any of the physical side of their relationship in it. For example, 13x11 means Treize is boinking Lady Une; 13+11 means that they merely have feelings for each other. ^_^;

Which number goes first if it's an 'x' matters. Kind of. The character who's number comes first is the aggreser in the relationship. They're "on top", if you get my drift. ^_^; Also, sometimes the aggreser in the relationship will act more...well, aggressive, which the character who's number comes second is, well, more wimpy than they would usually be. This stuff doesn't really count in straight fics ('cause only one of the two can be "on top"!), but it's important in the yaoi fandom. There have been long and hard arguements on whether 1x2 or 2x1 is better!

Japanese Terms

ai shiteru or aishiteru: I love you (in a serious and romantic way). I'm told that neither of these are the correct romanization of the Japanese words, but 99.9% of the time they're what you find in the fandom so...*shrugs*

baka: Idiot. Moron. Dim-wit. Stupid. Stuff like that.

onna: Detorgatory form of woman. It's an insult, I guess...

sayanora: Good-bye (like you didn't know that already!)

shojo-ai: Same thing as shounen-ai, but with girls.

shounen-ai: Yaoi's little brother. Shounen-ai refers to the emotional side of a male/male homosexual relationship. Usually in a shounen-ai story there is nothing past kissing.

yaoi: Commonly, yaoi is used to refer to male/male relationships (that is, homosexual relationships between two guys) in anime. Sometimes it is used to refer to the physical side of male/male relationships in anime. If that's the case, then yaoi's little brother is shounen-ai. Outside of anime, yaoi is known as slash.

yuri: Same thing as yaoi, except with girls. The non-anime version of yuri is, I think, fem-slash, or something like that.
